I had my driver’s license renewed last Friday. If you are following me on Instagram, I posted in my Instagram stories the different steps you have to go through. Bago na kasi eh. Dati dati, punta ka lang to their satellite offices then you get to renew na your license. Now, they digitized their processes already. I’ll go through here steps I went through for my driver’s license renewal for you =)

STEP 1: Register at the LTO Online Portal. Here’s the link: https://portal.lto.gov.ph/

Click register and fill out the data that are being asked. Galing because LTO now has a centralized data of all your LTO concerns. Everything is in your portal already upon registration. The link for the online exam is there. The reviewers are there, your violations, transactions with LTO and all other things pertaining to your LTO account. I checked kanina and reflected na there my new driver’s license.

STEP 2: Take the online exam and print out the results. It will look like this:

There are 25 questions and you need to get 50% or 13 correct answers. Don’t worry because there are review materials there. Or you can google the answers. There’s no time limit in answering the questions. You can also take as many tries as you need. Ang alam ko ha? Nice because madami akong natutunan when taking the exams that I didn’t actually know dati about the road and driving rules

STEP 3: Get a medical certificate from an accredited clinic. Usually, there are accredited clinics beside the different LTO offices.

So last Friday, that was what I did. I took na the test and passed so I needed to get a medical certificate. The LTO office that I went to was the one at The Link building in Makati. Same building where the Coco Grace Salon that I go to is. It’s in front of Landmark and the LTO office is located at the 2nd floor. An accredited clinic is beside it. Both the LTO and the clinic opens at 8am but for some reasons, the clinic opened at 830am na. I was the first one there. 7am nandun na ako. I had work kasi that day and siningit ko lang itong renewal na ito.

Even though you are the first one there, they will give priority to senior citizens and PWDs.

And then the clinic will make the people queuing outside to fill out the forms. After filling out the forms, you will go inside the clinic to pay Php 600. And then you have to wait to be called again so that the doctor can see you.

The doctor asked lang about my height, weighed me and did an eye exam for color blindness and vision clarity. No more peeing for the drug test. I didn’t know that kaya nagpigil pa ako ng wiwi. Kaloka. Lelz. I learned that when you’re color blind pala, you may be issued a driver’s license but may restriction dun na you can’t drive at night. Pagnahuli ka, double yata the penalty. Something like that.

Anyway, after the doctor, you will be given the Medical Certificate na.

STEP 4: Go to the LTO office and submit to them your old driver’s license, online test results and medical certificate. It is important that you have a printed copy with you of your online test results so that wala nang extra step. Otherwise, you will log in dun sa computers nila inside the office so you can print your results.

STEP 5: Pay for the driver’s license. I paid Php 585 without penalties.

STEP 6: Fingerprint getting.

I just waited for around 10 minutes then I was done! They gave me back my old driver’s license and gave me the new one with the receipt =)

It was a seamless process. Kudos to LTO for making the driver’s license renewal more efficient for everyone.

My only suggestion is that sana, the clinics open earlier like at 730am siguro. Para for those people who come in early, they can go na to the LTO offices with their medical certificates on hand na when they open at 8am.

That’s it!

Oh by the way, I got renewed for 10 years because I didn’t have any violations. I thought yung mga coding na huli affects it, hindi pala. But if you have a major violation, you will only get renewed for 5 years. And also, even though 10 years ang validity of my driver’s license, I have to get a medical certificate again after how many years. 4 years ba or 3? I’d have to validate it lang kasi not listening ako kay Ate masyado dun sa clinic.

Ayun. I hope I was able to help you guys! Drive safely always!
