Lory’s Big Fight

I was supposed to write something fun today kaso hindi ako mapakali.

The other day, Alvin told me that Lory, the wife of one of his cousins, is diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer.

Natulala ako.

Lory is just about my age. She’s in her late 30s. She’s beautiful (the humble type na hindi niya alam na maganda siya), kind and very soft spoken. Like I said, she’s married to Alvin’s cousin and they have three equally beautiful children ages 12, 10 and 5.

Lory and her hubby

Natulala ako because I thought she was supposedly in remission na from her Breast Cancer.

In January 2017 kasi, she was diagnosed with Stage 2 Breast Cancer. She completed her chemotherapy just last June 2018. Imagine the stress their family went through, physically, emotionally and financially. The whole cycle of treatments cost them 2 Million Pesos.

Then barely a month after, just last July 2018, she was again diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer. This time the estimated expenses for their bill is 5 Million Pesos!

Tragis. The medicines are very, very expensive!

In other countries, the government healthcare covers for these expenses. Bakit dito sa Pilipinas hindi? Mamumulubi ka talaga. Hindi naman sila mayaman, mga ateng. They are a very simple family making a honest living na sakto lang for their everyday needs. Hindi pa nga sila nakakarecover dun sa gastos before, eto na naman.

Lory is one of the nicest person I know. Lagi naka-ngiti, ang pleasant always and napaka-humble. Kaya hindi ako maka-get over sa pagkatulala ko when I learned about her recent sickness. I cannot imagine where she got her strength to be able to surpass all the stress, anxiety and fear of going through her Breast cancer treatment. Tapos ngayon, Lung cancer naman ang haharapin nila.

I messaged her as soon as I learned about it. Sabi ko, kapit lang and we’ll all be praying for her. She said yes. She believes that God can move mountains. Her faith is very strong. That probably is the one that kept her up and fighting for her life since January 2017 -> that and her three wonderful kids.

God, her kids! Ang babata pa ng mga anak nila. As a mother, she’s fighting for her life because her kids need her and she wants more time with them. She wants to be there to spend all their birthdays together. She wants to be there to celebrate their graduations and successes. She wants to be there to hold their hand when they’re sad. She wants to witness their weddings.

Mga nanay tayo. Alam natin yan.

I know it’s wrong but everytime I learn about someone’s who’s sick, I put myself in their shoes and I cry. Ganun din ba kayo? I cannot imagine how she’s feeling right now. I will be really, really scared if ako yun. I cannot imagine myself not being with Anika and Alvin. Just thinking about it makes me want to go home now and hug both of them na lang araw araw.

Kita mo nga naman ang life and here we are complaining about menial things.

Anyway guys, in behalf of our family, I’d like to ask for your prayers. Please include Lory in your special intentions. Please help us pray for her and her family.

For those of you who would want to donate and help Lory and her family, here are her details.

Thank you in advance, mga bakla. This also shows how important it is to have a health insurance. Ang kamote kasi ng healthcare system dito sa bansa natin so kanya kanya talaga ang diskarte how to save up and prepare for times like this. If you don’t have yet, please do get one. Yung kinuha ko na health insurance for me is just like paying Php 100 a day. Mas mura pa yun sa isang kape ng Starbucks but it can save you all the stress in the future.

Osha. Good news naman when I come back.
