I love this outfit on Anika.

Shirt: MANGO KIDS; Jumper: MOTHERCARE; Sneakers: VANS
This is how I will picture her when she brings home a boy I am forced to like in her teens. This is how I will picture her during the times na gusto ko siyang sabunutan sa pagkamaldita niya pagnag-dalaga siya. This is how I will picture her when we will have that mother-daughter drama fights. This is how I will remember her during her debut party, 12 years from now. And this is how I will remember her at that moment when we are in the hotel room getting ready to walk down the aisle on her wedding day.
Nakaka-iyak. Shet.
Whew.
Anyway, earlier while we were bathing together, Anika asked me what a credit card was. She wanted one daw.
ME: A credit card is a small plastic card that you use to pay for something if you do not have cash with you. You are not allowed to have one.
ANIKA: But why?! My friend Tanya has one!
ME: Because I’m not allowed to have one too.
ANIKA: How does a credit card work, Nanay?
ME: For example, on your birthday, April 9, you want to buy this toy worth Php 1,000. The problem is that you forgot your money inside your treasure chest at home. You will just give the credit card to the cashier and sign something. You can bring home the toy without paying money to the cashier. But! On May 9, the bank will come to you to get the Php 1,000 money that you owe them. And then, you will get your money inside your treasure chest and give it to the bank. Gets?
ANIKA: Oh right…
ME: Do you want to hear about a super secret story? This is something you cannot tell anybody okay?
ANIKA: Yes! I can keep a secret!
ME: I had a credit card before. And then I bought and bought so many things! I just handed my credit card to the store all the time! Everything was Php 300,000! And then after one month, the bank came knocking at my door. They were asking for the money for the things I bought. The problem was… I didn’t have money to pay them! I had to hide in the bathroom until they went away. But they came back again and again and again. They were shouting outside of our house! I was so scared because they wanted to bring me to jail because I couldn’t pay them! They were very mad! They wanted to get me and bring me with them! I didn’t have the money kasi to pay for all the things that I used the credit card for! I asked for Tatay’s help! Tatay said he will pay for everything but I cannot ever, ever have a credit card ever again.
And then I saw Anika’s eyes filling with tears.
ME: Why are you crying?
ANIKA (in between hiccups): That’s a mean story! That’s a very, very mean story!
ME: I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to upset you. But can you tell what the lesson in my story is?
ANIKA: Do not use credit card without your savings.
Mission accomplished!
=)
P.S.
Of course I exaggerated the story!
A bit.
