Anika went to our room around 4am kanina. She was crying kasi super sakit daw ng throat niya. Her head hurts too. She’s having on-off fever since Monday eh. Natakot ako kasi last week, there was this 5 year old child who died from strep throat (Streptococcal pharyngitis). Infection sa throat yan and nakakahawa among kids. Supposedly, it’s easy to treat and the kids who have it recover in 3 days. However, it can also lead to complications like scarlet fever, rheumatic fever, etc.
It’s so scary. I cannot imagine the pain of the parents of that little boy. I got agitated. Iba ang ka-praningan talaga when you become a mom. When something happens, you think about the 10 million things that can go wrong.
I told Alvin to bring Anika to the pedia today. According her doctor, Anika has acute tonsillitis daw. I told Alvin to tell the pedia about the little boy who died because of strep throat. To be sure, the pedia instructed Anika to have a throat swab to see if she has infection or bacteria or something connected to strep throat. Five thousand peso pala yung test na yun guys! Emergerd. Buti na lang Ka Lydia (my MIL) is a microbiologist. For me, siya na ang mother of all the microbiologist in the country. She’ll be the one to do the throat swab na lang and have it tested. After that, Anika can drink na the antibiotics.
I am praying Anika will not have that kind of infection too.
Take care of the kids ha? Uso ang mga sakit again nowadays. Hawa hawa sila sa school so it’s very important to build the kids’ immune system.
