I can’t eat chocolates. I love them but I can’t eat because caffeine makes me palpitate. This was why I was hesitant to try eating here at Auro Chocolate Cafe when Barbie said na dun daw kami maglunch with Doc Rache.
Buti na lang I went, guys.
A little background muna. Auro produces artisanal dark, white, and milk chocolates in different forms. They have chocolate bars, spreads, ice cream etcetera. Their cacao are locally sourced in Davao and they support the farming communities there.
The branch of Auro Chocolate Cafe that we went to was in BGC. This is their flagship store. Their first cafe is the one near IKEA. Nadadaanan niyo yun when you go to IKEA. Ako lagi. Tapos hanggang tingin lang ako, lelz.
This restaurant is Barbie’s favorite and she was really excited for us to try it. When I was going through the menu, I was a bit shookt to see that the dishes/meals being served at Auro actually have chocolates in them! Well, infused with cacao would be a better term for it. Teka, oo, I know expected na madaming chocolates dito sa restaurant na ito pero mga bakla, yung Cauli Steak, Fried Chicken Silog and Beef Pares may cacao?!
Di ba?
First time yata ako nainis in a long time na hindi ako makakain ng chocolates haha. I wanted to try them all.
Here are the dishes we ordered.
Pan de Quezo (Php 280)
The Pan de Quezo is one of my favorites. The cheese inside is gooey tapos medyo cruchy yung labas.
Chorizo Fundido (Php 430)
Barbie ordered the Chorizo Fundido. As in lagi daw niya ito inoorder. It’s a dish that is composed of chorizo and red pepper garlic rice topped with melted fontina cheese, served with cherry tomatoes and saba. I tasted it and masarap siya guys.
Chicharron Manok (Php 320)
Eto panalo. Fried chicken skin with Avocado herb sauce. I love the sauce! I don’t eat chicharon that much because hello cholesterol but inupakan ko talaga ito. I never knew masarap yung chicken skin with avocado.
Pork Satay (Php 350)
These are pork barbecue satay with peanut sauce and pineapple chutney. Two thumbs up too. Pwede na pang ulam.
Beef Pares (Php 470)
Their Beef Pares is kind of soshal. Description pa lang, kakaiba na. Beef stewed in sweet-soy sauce and Auro 100% Unsweetened Chocolate, white garlic rice. Yes. It has chocolate. And I tasted it (ng konti) because I was super curious. Masarap mga bakla.
Beef Tapa (Php 450)
Marinated beef tenderloin, white garlic rice, fried egg, papaya pickled in cacao vinegar.
Ginataang Kalabasa (Php 390)
Squash and french beans cooked in coconut milk and curry spices served with choice of white or red garlic rice. Sorry guys. Hindi ko ito tinikman personally kasi kalabasa. Hehe. But Rache said that it was delicious.
Classic Benedict (Php 520)
Glazed ham, poached egg, hollandaise sauce on croissant bread. By looking at it, visuals pa lang, masarap na. The salad was so fresh. The combi of the ham, poached egg with the sauce was perfect.
Strawberry Shortcake (Php 445)
This. Is. The. Best. Strawberry. Shortcake. I. Have. Ever. Tried in the longest time! I swear it’s soooo good! I am going to have this sa once a week sugar indulgence ko =)
And of course, the food won’t be as good if not shared with my very good friends, Rache and Barbie =)
